{cocktail} Blood Orange Jalapeno Margarita

Blood Orange Jalapeno Margarita Recipe by Momma Cuisine

McCormick spices sent me some of their spices for the #McCormickTacoNight challenge with The Motherhood, just in time for Cinco De Mayo. I got a spice jar of dried jalapenos and my mind started to race about how I can incorporate this fun spice in my cooking this weekend. EUREKA! Infuse my tequila with dried jalapenos for a twist on a margarita recipe!

Infused liquors are all the rage in cocktail recipes, and I've tried everything from Bacon Infused Vodka, to Cherry Infused Bourbon. So, why not tequila?

I took about two cups of silver tequila and let 2 teaspoons of dried jalapenos in to soak and infuse the tequila for two hours. The longer the better - I suggest at least 5 hours to extract all the oils and flavor from the dried jalapenos. If you don't have dried jalapenos, muddle fresh ones. Just make sure you thoroughly de-vein the pepper, taking out all the seeds.

Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons of Jalapeno Infused Tequila
  • 2 teaspoons of Agave Nectar
  • Juice of Two Limes
  • Juice of One Blood Orange
  • Ice
Instructions:

Shake all the ingredients together with ice and serve.

Notes

If you don’t have Jalapeno Infused Tequila, muddle 1 teaspoon of Jalapeno with a pinch of sugar and mix with the cocktail.
