4 Essential Items You Shouldn’t Forget on Your Next Family Holiday

It's been a long time since the last family holiday, but it's almost that time again. The kids are excited, and you have everything planned out, from what to wear to who will drive which carpool lane. But, you need one more thing: packing! We all know how easy it is to forget things when we pack too quickly, so here are four essential items you should not forget on your next family holiday with the whole gang.

Weather Appropriate Clothing

It's so easy to pack away the winter clothes and bring out all the summer things, but you should always double-check what temperatures are like where your family is headed. Even if it doesn't look too cold on the weather app, remember that there could be wind chill or other factors that will leave you shivering in their swimsuits instead of at the pool. SO before choosing a destination, ensure to do some research on The Family Vacation Guide's list of the best Cayman Island all-inclusive resorts for families. Also, always err on the side of caution when packing for a holiday with kids because they don't understand why we can't go swimming just because it's 30 degrees outside!

  • Lightweight clothing

  • A variety of warm hats and gloves (if needed)

  • Warm pajamas

  • Swimsuit and sunhat

Electronics

It's hard to go on a family holiday without some electronics, but there are a few things to remember when packing them. First, make sure you have all the chargers and cords you need, as well as an adapter if your destination is in a different country. If you're using your phone or laptop for work while you're away, make sure you have adequate storage space for all your files. And finally, download any movies or shows that everyone wants to watch before leaving so that you don't use up all your data (or WiFi) downloading them once you arrive!

Medicines and Toiletries

Don't forget that you may need more than just sunscreen and bug spray on your family holiday! Don't assume that everything will be the same as it is at home, so check with a doctor to see what medications are needed for where you're going. If anything specific about any of the medicines (e.g., they must be kept in a certain temperature range), make sure those details are packed too. Bring enough toiletries such as shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant etc. Depending on how long you'll be away from home, don't forget these items either:

  • Sunscreen/lotion

  • Bug spray or other insect repellent

  • Tissues/Kleenexes

  • Toilet paper

Essential documents (Passports, Visas)

Lastly, you shouldn't forget the most important thing about a family holiday: letting everyone know where to go if there is an emergency. Make sure your passports and visas are up-to-date before heading out on your trip, as well as keeping them in a place that's easily reachable from wherever you decide to stay while away. You'll also need copies of these documents along with any other information, such as contact numbers for embassies or consulates, just in case something happens.

These are four essential items you should not forget on your next family holiday. By packing appropriately and taking some basic precautions, you'll be able to relax and enjoy yourself while away!
