4 Telltale Signs of a Great RV Park

RV getaways are currently experiencing a surge in popularity, with some 60% of travelers considering one for their upcoming trips.

And it’s not hard to see why. RV getaways offer a little bit of everything: adventure, a chance to connect with nature, and home comforts all wrapped up in one convenient vacation that removes many of the pain points of traditional trips (such as dealing with chaotic airports).

The RV itself is often thought of as the star of the RV getaway, but actually, the RV park in which travelers set up camp is arguably just as important. As you might expect, RV park quality can vary widely — and with that in mind, we thought it’d be a good idea to run through a few telltale signs that vacationers (and long-term RVers) should look out for when making their decision about where to stay.

Full Hookups

When you’re looking for an RV park, it’s important to make sure that the park offers full hookup sites. That means that each site comes with water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electrical connections. In other words, they’re sites that allow for maximum convenience and comfort. It’s this feature that really allows RVers to settle into the space, since they’ll have everything they need to live just as well as they do at home.

Scenic Location

A big part of the appeal of RV vacationers is having the ability to spend their days and nights in a scenic environment. While there are RV sites located in and around urban areas, the best are the ones that are located a little away from town, surrounded by nature. You’ll find RV parks located on lakes and near green spaces that are great for hikes, allowing you and your family to spend your vacation surrounded by the great outdoors.

Short- and Long-Term Stays

Some RV parks are designed for stays of just one or two nights. The best RV parks, however, tend to offer both short- and long-term stays. Even if you’re only planning on visiting for a few days, staying in a park that caters to long-term stays is generally recommended since they have more amenities and a better sense of community. Plus, while you might initially plan on just being there for a few days, you never know what might happen — many people end up staying at an RV park for months if they’re enjoying it. Having the flexibility to extend your stay adds to the freedom that comes from traveling by RV.

Proximity To Attractions

The best RV parks are the ones where you could happily spend many days simply enjoying being there. However, should you wish to go off and explore, then you should also have plenty of great attractions within easy reach. Many are located near sublime state parks, urban areas that offer quality dining experiences, and child-friendly attractions. That’ll allow you to wake up each morning and choose how you spend your day: will you relax on base, or go on an adventure?
