6 Things You Can Do With Your Garage Other Than Store Cars

Architects invented garages to store vehicles. Before then, farmers and other wealthy people had outbuildings for their horses and bales of hay.

These days, though, modern cars are exceptionally resistant to the weather. You can leave them outside all year without having to worry about them disintegrating. As long as you maintain them, they should be fine.

Therefore, the humble garage is becoming less important for motorists. It’s now a space they can use for other things.

Store Expensive Bicycles

These days, some bicycles are more expensive than cars. Therefore, people want spaces in their homes where they can keep them safe. The days of leaving them in a shed with a padlock on the door are now well and truly behind them.

One option is to keep them inside the home. But most people don’t want muddy, greasy bikes in their living space. Therefore, the garage seems like the obvious option. Lining them all up in there seems infinitely preferable. Plus, garages are just as safe as the rest of the house, so you don’t need to worry so much about your pride and joy.

Turn It Into A Crafts Space

You might also want to consider turning your garage into an arts and crafts space. This way, you don’t have to take up room in your home with all your equipment. You have a dedicated area, out of the way of everything else.

A Mudroom

Expensive country homes have mudrooms, but they don’t make an appearance in most people’s homes. However, you can change this quickly by converting your garage. It’s the perfect place for hanging wet coats and taking off muddy boots before putting them in the wash. All you need to do is install a sink and perhaps a washing machine, and you’re done.

Games Room

You can also try turning your garage into a games room. This way, you have somewhere you can enjoy all your hobbies.

Just put down a garage carpet and insulate the walls and you’re ready to host guests and spend your Saturday afternoons inside it.

Home Gym

Garages also make excellent home gyms because of their spaciousness, boxiness, and high walls for full-length mirrors.

Transforming your garage into a home gym is easy if you already have high-spec flooring. However, even if you don't, you can put down resin floors that can withstand the impact of heavy weights dropping on them.

For a fully-equipped home gym, you need a squat rack, a set of dumbbells, a barbell weight set, a bench, a pulley machine, and somewhere you can do weighted pull-ups. If you have room, you can add cardio equipment, like the stationary bike or treadmill.

Storage

Lastly, you might want to consider dedicating your garage to storage. This way, you can access your possessions conveniently, stopping you from having to trudge upstairs to the attic and avoid the eaves.

Using your attic differently can make a massive difference to your quality of life and how you live. Try a conversion yourself and see how it helps you.
