It is no secret at I although I love the excitement and activities that surround watching a great football game, that I have NO IDEA what is going on. Incidentally, the folks at Rockit Burger Bar on 3700 N. Clark Street in Wrigleyville, Chicago invited me to a Football 101 brunch and class with Chicago Sports Divas founder, Monica Murphy-Vargas. I thought I’d take them up on their offer and attempt to learn a little about this great American sport!

I have to admit that upon entering Rockit Burger Bar, I was a little nervous, just as anyone would going into a situation where they have no knowledge about the main topic of conversation. You might as well have stuck me in a room full of scientists.

Going in, I saw a room full of women, sprinkled with a few men, partaking in brunch, Mimosas and cocktails with big screens tuned in waiting for the big Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans game, that I heard was expected to be pretty epic. It wasn’t your typical manly game day scene…which I loved! I became excited to see lovely women sporting their favorite Chicago Bears tee’s sipping Mimosas talking about this season’s highlights.

As Monica took the stage, she started to explain the very basics of the game. And I must say, although I need several more lessons to truly talk game, she made learning about football interesting, exciting and fun!

The Chicago Sports Divas website is also a must-visit for novices and pro’s alike as well. The website is broken down to Chicago teams covering including NCAA and even golf. And in true women’s fashion, there are also links to Fashion, Gossip and Scene, truly catering to what women are interested in.

Definitely look for the these Diva’s and their events in and around Chicago. And by the way – I do know that the “Tight End” isn’t talking about a football player’s physical nature…although it should! Hehehehe!
