Get Falling For Fall With These Five Tips
There is one thing that is happening right now, and that’s the countdown to Fall. It's approaching fast and with Christmas not far behind it, you need to get your house ready as early as possible so that you can enjoy your home for the cooler months of the year. The one thing that you need to know about Fall is that it’s not always the easiest season in your home. Fall means harsher weather, some storms, a lot of rain - and it all affects the exterior of your home.
Without getting your house ready, you’re going to end up dealing with the fall out (pardon the pun) of the fall weather. The winter is coming, and that means you need to get this list of things done and dusted before the harsh weather really does settle in. Here are a few things that you need to look at to ensure that you have your house ready for the Fall.
Call the roofer. Calling Gino at My Pittsburgh Roofing should be your first port of call. The last thing that you need during a rainstorm in the fall is the roof being open to leaks. If your roof is broken, the rain will filter through it and your attic is going to be prone to flooding. You can avoid this, though, and that’s why you call in the roofers to come in and help you out. Check for any damage and make sure that you are on board with a fix - get your budget ready for that!
Clean out the gutters. You might be able to find a roofing company who will also work your gutters for you. They can get them cleaned out and enable better drainage as a result. The gutters get built up with muck, sticks and leaves. You don't have to allow this to happen!
Check your insulation. When was the last time you checked the weather stripping on the windows? Or the insulation in the attic and walls? You need to remember that the Fall brings cooler air, which means that your home is exposed to air leaks. If you choose now to check and make sure your insulation is intact, you won’t have any unpleasant surprises in the Fall.
Don't forget the faucets. Your outdoor faucets that you use through the warmer months to fill the pool and run the hose should be switched off. Make sure that you drain them thoroughly to avoid busted pipes. This is definitely not a job to forget - you could end up with a huge job on your hands if you don't turn these faucets off.
Call in the gardener. You need your lawn and plants ready for the cold weather and while you might not have the time, you can outsource this to a gardening and landscaping company. They’ll get the whole thing ready for you so that you don't have to worry about your garden dying over the colder months. They’ll prep the lawn for you, too!
