Imagine if your home could develop instant curb appeal. That would be a lot of fun, right? You'd suddenly have one of those homes that were always featured in real estate magazines. But what can you do to give your home instant curb appeal? 

Change your front door

One of the easiest things to do is just change your door. Installing a new colorful door can make a massive difference to how a property is and it immediately can fundamentally change how it feels. Going for a bright door makes an even bigger difference if your home is the right type of property for it. Adding a green or a yellow door to a traditional building enhances its curb appeal massively and improves its character. 

Gets a designer

The next thing you want to do is get a designer. This is somebody who really understands what the exterior of your property should look like. Garden designers often have a lot of experience. They can show you how to make the best use of your space, even if you're on an irregular plot of land. They can also take your design ideas into consideration and produce something which is completely different, but also in line with your tastes and preferences. 

Again, it doesn't take much. All you usually need is just a trained eye on your property so you can see what's going to work for you. 

Power wash the exterior and driveway

Power washing the exterior and driveway of your home is more low-hanging fruit. You won't believe how much grime and muck built up over the years, but once you've removed it, it often will have a brand new house. 

Most of the time, the underlying material isn't degraded; it's just covered in a layer of dirt. If you can get rid of this and reveal your fresh siding, walkways, and driveways, everything about your property will look brighter. All it takes is a pro team a couple of days to do the work.  

Add potted plants and flowers to your exterior areas

You could also look at adding potted plants and flowers to your exterior areas. These immediately add colour and variety.

• Baskets are great around the entrance

• Raised beds are ideal for pathways leading to your front door

• Depending on the shape of your property, you could also use plants in a seasonal bloom near walkways

Update the house number

Another small change you might want to make is updating the house number.  Placing it near well-placed lights can completely transform the feel of your property, especially if you live in a modern home. At dusk, your home seems more modern and contemporary, especially when combined with flanking path lights. 

Of course, you also want to do all of the basic stuff as well, like edging your walkways and mowing the lawn. If you can clean the windows and gutters for even more sparkle, do so. This is a great idea when you want to sell your home quickly.
