Is It A Bird? Is It A Plane? No, It's Superfoods!

So, you’re on a health kick and you couldn’t feel any better. Hurrah! It was a long, hard slog, and there were tears, but you got there in the end and you’re a better person. But what’s that? Do you want to go even farther? Do you want to eat even healthier? That’s ok because it’s possible. All you need to do is introduce a few superfoods into your diet and you’ll be a new person. Sure, you might not do a Popeye, but if you want muscles you should go to the gym! Here are the superfoods that couldn’t be healthier.

Black Garlic

Healthy dishes have a stigma, and that stigma is unfair. Most people think that healthy eating means they can’t enjoy their food because it has no taste. Granted, junk food is tasty, but so is healthy produce with the help of black garlic. Not only does it have a strong flavour, but black garlic also has sulphuric compounds that help fight cancer. And if that isn’t enough, it also has plenty of probiotics which are good for the intestine. When the intestine is in good shape, so is the immune system because the two are directly linked. So, eat your black garlic and you’ll never get sick again!

White Fish

Forget about chicken and turkey, because white fish is the health king. Yes, chicken and turkey are lean, but they aren’t as lean as fish. And, because it is lean, there is a lot less additional fat in your diet. That means the strain on your internal organs is a lot less, and the organs become more efficient. Fish also contains omega 3 fatty acids, which is an integral nutrient in your diet. For those of you that don’t eat meat, you can get your fill from vegan omega 3 foods. The vegan version is simply the algae that contain the omega before it is gobbled up by krill and fish.

Açai

If you haven’t heard of açai, it’s because it’s a berry native to the rainforests of South America. Over there, açai is one of the most traditional dessert treats on the menu. Mix it into an ice cream; add banana; serve – delicious! Whether they know it or not, it also has antioxidants that help fight cancer as well as anthocyanins which fight heart disease. If these health benefits aren’t enough, the berry is also known to fight the signs of ageing and trigger weight loss. What a great way to end the perfect, healthy meal!

Cocoa Powder

Say it again; louder, please! Yes, cocoa powder, the main ingredient of chocolate, is healthy. The ‘studies’ which have shown chocolate and cocoa to be unhealthy have been discredited and both are widely renowned for being healthy. The main reason is an agent named flavonoids which decrease blood pressure. They also increase blood flow to the major organs. There is a catch, though. The powder has to be pure, or the chocolate must contain at least 75% cocoa. Otherwise, it is full of things such as milk and sugar which aren’t superfoods.

If you like these, there are plenty more you can add to your diet. Who said dieting was hard?!
