Juicing: Worth A Try Or More Trouble Than It's Worth?

Juicing has been somewhat of a fad in recent years. You’ve probably heard of it from many popular magazines claiming that celebrities do this diet. Juicing can be tricky. If you do it right, it can be a great way to up your fruit and veg intake, and lose/maintain weight. If you don’t do it right, it can cause binges like you’ve never had before. Let’s take a closer look at juicing:

Making Juices Yourself
If you do want to try juicing, then you must make sure you’re making the juices yourself. Some juices bought from the store are OK, but many of them have hidden additives and sugars that don’t make them a good choice for your health at all. Don’t be fooled by the clever branding designed to make them look like they’re good for you!

You should mix both vegetables and fruits to make the healthiest juices. Make sure you don’t include too many fruits, as this can bump up the sugar content and make them not so healthy. It’s best to include veggies like kale, broccoli, celery, spinach, and other leafy greens. This will fill your juice full of healthy vitamins and minerals. You can also check this article for Homemade Juicing Recipes.

How Many Juices A Day?
There’s a longstanding debate about how many juices you should have per day. You should never, ever take the route of having only juices and no real food. Eating real, whole food is important for your health too. You don’t want to juice for a week and then binge like crazy because you haven’t eaten any proper food.

With that in mind, it’s a good idea to have one or two juices a day. It’s up to you whether you have these alongside your regular meals, or replace a meal or two with them. It will depend on your goals. Bear in mind that juices can be healthy, but they still have calories, sugars, and carbs. This means that if your goal is to lose fat, you need to be careful.

Getting The Right Juicer
Getting the right juicer is absolutely essential if you want to squeeze every last bit of goodness out of the fruit and veg before you drink them. You can read reviews on sites like Zozanga to make sure you get the right one for you. Some of the cheaper ones will make juice but many of the micronutrients won’t be in your drink, rendering the whole thing pretty pointless for your health!

Your Goals
Always bear your goals in mind when juicing. Doing it for your general, overall health is great. It will help you to feel more alive and nourish your body. Doing it to gain weight is also a great idea. You just need to be careful that you don’t go too far when you’re trying to cut fat or maintain. Juices can be healthy, but it doesn’t mean you can have as many as you want. Too much of anything can cause a problem.
