Green City Market is  a non-profit farmer’s market operating in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, operating outdoors until late fall and indoors for the winter, at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.

Green City Market boasts being “Chicago’s only truly “green” farmer’s market supporting and promoting local, sustainable agricultural practices, the mission of Green City Market is to provide a marketplace for purchasing sustainably grown food that educates, promotes and connects farmers and local producers directly to chefs, restaurateurs and the greater Chicago community.”

Green City hosts an array of FREE programs for the entire family, showcasing some of Chicago’s greatest chefs for demonstrations that will hopefully help to spark your inner foodie, and get you to try a couple new recipes at home.

On Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Green City Market will be hosting a Culinary Garage Sale and Bake Sale at 500 North Clark Street at Naha Restaurant. If you have ever dreamt of having kitchen tools and gadgets just like professional chefs do, this is a “garage sale” you wouldn’t want to miss…I’m sure not going to!

Their invitation states that, “Chefs from across Chicago and America will be donating their culinary kitchen treasures, to benefit the efforts of Chicago’s Greencity market and Les Dames D’Escoffier.

Les Dames d’Escoffier International is a worldwide society of women dedicated to creating culture in the community and fosters excellence and promotes the achievement of women culinary professions…

As for the Bake Sale, Chicago’s best pastry chefs will be creating old-fashioned bake sale for cash and carry.

You will find everything from chef knives, smallwares, cookware, saute pans, cookbooks, and more at this fun and unique sale to benefit such great culinary/food causes.

So, make a fun day trip of this event, come early and do some shopping and enjoy a day in the city.
