Making a decision to have a baby is a huge crossroads for young couples.  You may be considering when and where you want to have your baby and raise your children.  A new, just released study has information on where you can do this most cost effectively.

WalletHub recently looked at 20 key measures of raising a newborn. Factors such as cost, health care accessibility and baby-friendliness were considered.  The study also considered hospital charges, infant care costs and the number of pediatricians per capita.

Topping the list of best places to have a baby:  Vermont, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Connecticut.  Vermont did particularly well because it has the most obstetricians and gynecologists (per 100,000 residents), 22, which is 11 times more than in Oklahoma, registering the fewest at two.

Rounding out the bottom of the list:  Mississippi, Louisiana, Nevada and West Virginia.

Mississippi--despite being at the bottom of the list--has the lowest average annual cost for early child care, $3,034, which is 4.9 times lower than in the District of Columbia, registering the highest at $14,855.

From birthing expenses to childcare, to the cost of a child's haircut, there are a lot of factors to weigh when making the decision on whether to start a family.  The more information you have, the better off you will be planning for the future of your potentially growing family..
