Give Thanksgiving a Twist with Wild Garden

With Thanksgiving just a few days away, it’s easy to get a little anxiety about everything you need to cook for the occasion! Luckily, Wild Garden has Marinades and Pilafs that are far from boring, and super helpful when you’re overwhelmed in the kitchen.

Obviously, the star of Thanksgiving is the turkey… but how do you get it to be flavorful?! Do you need to brine it for hours? What spices do you put on it? If you find yourself asking these questions, make it easy on yourself! Grab two pouches of Wild Garden Turkish Marinade and three pouches of Wild Garden Bulgur Pilaf from your grocery store and take a deep breath!

I’m sure you’re thinking, “That sounds good, but where do we start?!” Good question! First we’ll start with a Bulgur Pilaf Stuffing for your beautiful Turkish Turkey that you’ll make afterwards.

Bulgur Pilaf Stuffing Ingredients:

3 leeks, chopped
1/3 cup olive oil
1 cup diced dried apricots
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup olive oil
1 cup slivered almonds
1 cup of apple, diced
3 pouches of Wild Garden Bulgur Pilaf

Instructions:

Sauté chopped leeks in 1/3 cup olive oil over a medium heat until soft and translucent. Add diced dried apricot to leeks and cook for 10 minutes. Add orange juice to the pan. Turn off heat, add diced apple and let it sit for a few minutes, mixing well by folding and not stirring.

In a separate pan, heat 1/4 cup of olive oil and add slivered almonds to hot oil. Stir the almonds until they reach a golden brown color. Keep an eye on them—they can go from golden to dark brown really fast! When they’re just golden brown, take out of pan and lay on a plate lined with paper towel. Add them to stuffing mixture.

And now it’s time to add the three Wild Garden Bulgur Pilaf pouches to the stuffing mixture.

Stir it all together to combine and put aside. We’ll stuff the turkey with it soon.

Turkish Turkey
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb butter at room temperature
  • 2 Wild Garden Turkish Marinade pouches
  • Wild Garden Bulgur Pilaf Stuffing
Instructions:

Start by letting your turkey sit at room temperature for a half hour before cooking, and preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Place the defrosted turkey in a roasting pan and rub the whole turkey down with butter. Don’t skimp here! Now rub two pouches of Wild Garden Turkish Marinade all over the turkey, under the skin and in the cavities. Then stuff the turkey with the Bulgur Stuffing mixture that you made earlier.

Heat leftover butter for basting. Soak a cheesecloth in the remaining butter and wrap it around the whole turkey. Put it in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes and then follow your turkey’s cooking instructions for the remaining cook time.

Baste the turkey every half hour—this will help it stay moist and full of flavor!

When it’s all cooked, take it out of the oven, remove the cheesecloth, and let it sit for around 45 minutes before you dig in.

As you can see, these two recipes don’t require you to bring a huge list to the grocery store—but your guests will still be blown away by the flavor! There are also tons of health benefits in these recipes, which is always nice on an indulgent holiday like Thanksgiving. But don’t worry, you don’t have to tell anyone that.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! And if you use any of these recipes, be sure to tag #WildGardenEats so we can see your creation. Visit www.wildgarden.com for more delicious recipes for the holidays or any occasion.
