10 Post Pandemic Group Activities To Look Forward To
When COVID-19 was first on our radar in March 2020, few of us could have
predicted that in the same month of 2022, we'd be looking at 480 million cases worldwide. We've lived with
years of restrictions that have damaged social lives and mental health — but
it's been necessary to save lives.
Now,
however, a post-pandemic world is in sight and we can finally start cautiously
planning for the future.
Here
are the post-pandemic activities to look forward to as we start to see the
light at the end of the tunnel.
1. Going to the Beach
While
many of us were still going to the beach, it's going to be much better in a
post-pandemic world when we can go with all of our friends. No longer are we
going to sit at home on those warm days, dreaming of doing something better!
We
also won't have to worry about getting too close to strangers. The beach can
get crowded on hot days but when COVID-19 has ebbed away, we can interact and
socialize without worrying about what we might be passing on (or what someone
might be passing on to us).
2. Hiking
Solo
and couple hikes were still very much a thing, but now group activities can
happen on hikes as well. Let's be honest, hiking is so much more fun when
there's a group of people to enjoy the view together and keep everyone
motivated.
3. Group Gym Sessions
For
a long time during the COVID-19 pandemic, most gyms were actually closed in an
attempt to contain the spread. Those who did go went solo, kept their masks on,
and wiped down equipment between uses.
Finally,
we can go to the gym with friends and enjoy the social aspect of it.
4. Concerts
Nearby
concerts were all canceled during COVID-19, as it simply wasn't safe to get
that close to other people. Concerts are notorious for people being pushed up
against others and breathing in germs, and there's nothing like a good pandemic
to remind us of that.
Finally,
we can enjoy live music again soon. Vaxed concerts are even going to be a thing
if you want to feel extra safe when attending.
Remember
to keep an eye out for the best time to buy
tickets!
5. Family Reunions
Unless
we live with them, it's been almost impossible to see family during the
pandemic. We've had to keep elderly and immunocompromised members safe and, at
points, travel has also been impossible — so if we live far away, we've had no
chance of seeing anyone.
In
a post-pandemic world, we can enjoy family reunions and travel to see everyone
that we've missed during this time. Family reunions used to be an amazing time
to reconnect and catch up with the people who mean the most to us, and it might
just be one of the most missed group activities.
6. Birthday Parties
Birthdays
during the pandemic have been underwhelming at best. It's not been responsible
to throw a party or even have friendly gatherings around that time, so most of
us have sat in alone and bore it.
Finally,
we'll be able to celebrate our own birthdays as well as friends and families.
Whatever you like to do for your birthday, whether it's going out to a bar or
something more low-key like a pizza night with friends, it'll be safe to do it
again.
The
birthdays had during the pandemic don't count, so remember to take two years
off your age when celebrating!
7. Thanksgiving Dinners
It's
been a similar feeling for Thanksgiving — sitting at home because we can't
responsibly travel to see family, thinking about that turkey and stuffing that
Mom used to make.
Finally,
we can celebrate this holiday properly again.
8. Group Dates
Dating
in itself has been a no-go for so many during the pandemic. Meeting new people
has been too risky, especially in a public setting with the virus swirling.
Not
only can we go back to dating, but group dating can become a thing again! Dates
are often so much more in groups or when double dating and they can even be
safer if it's in the early stages of getting to know someone.
9. Festivals
It's
not just concerts that are coming back — other kinds of festivals are too!
Whether celebrating culture, food, or whatever it is, it's now safe to bring
people together that have something in common and share what they love most.
10. Comedy Shows
Emerging
from the pandemic, most of us need a laugh. Why not indulge in a comedy show?
Often
in cramped venues with strangers, there were many points during the pandemic
where it just didn't feel safe or responsible to indulge in going — as much as
we could've used the jokes. Coming out of the pandemic, we can finally enjoy
comedy again and indulge in our favorite coping mechanism: laughter.
There's So Much Coming Post-Pandemic
For
many, the pandemic has been a long, difficult, and isolated two years. Although
it's been necessary to protect ourselves and those around us by following best
social distancing practices and doing our part to contain the spread of the
virus, most of us are excited to emerge into a post-pandemic world and finally
get back to doing the things we love.
Whether
you love hiking, concerts, or something else entirely — or all of the above —
indulging safely and responsibly is coming soon. Get ready.
