Hiring A Car

First, you should make sure that you are not hiring a car. We know that it sounds silly to recommend that you avoid hiring a car on a trip away but in New York it’s relatively pointless. If you hire a car you’re going to spend the majority of your time stuck in traffic. Even if you decide to stay somewhere away from the center of the city - and we recommend that you do - you can still rely on public transport. It’s more cost friendly, reliable and it’s easy to navigate so there’s no real point in a car hire. You’ll never find places to park anyway.

Staying In The Center

As mentioned, we don’t recommend that you stay in the center of the city for a couple of reasons. First, it’s very expensive and it also means that you might never venture beyond the central point of the city. This is a mistake particularly when you could stay in one of the best hotels in Williamsburg and still only be a stone throw away from best places that New York has to offer.

Only Hitting The Tourist Hot Spots

There are so many things to see in New York, if you stick to the touristy spots you could miss something amazing. We don’t mean avoid the common activities like visiting the Statue of Liberty or Central Park, just broaden your horizons a bit. You could jump in a helicopter and take a tour of the city, New York is much better by air. You could also book yourself onto a ghost tour as there are plenty of spooky places to experience.

Staying In At Night

New York comes alive at night, and you have to see it to believe it. However, many people think that they must stay in at night to avoid the crime waves that can sweep across the city. If you stay in safe neighborhoods and stick with the crowds then you can be pretty safe in New York. You will see and sense a whole different vibe at night, head to Times Square or Broadway where everything will be lit up.

If you are unsure of where to go and where to avoid it is worth speaking to the experts who live there. Ask at your accommodation if there is anywhere they can recommend at night

We hope this helps you understand some of the key mistakes that people often make when they are visiting New York City. By avoiding some of these pitfalls, you can guarantee that you have an incredible stay without the hassle and stress.
