5 Freelance Jobs That Are Perfect For Moms

Most women have a full-fledged career before becoming mothers. Some go back to work after maternity leave; others take a long sabbatical during the early years of their baby growing up and then resume work after some years. Still others choose not to go back to work at all and are happy being stay-at-home-moms.

However, there is a large chunk of moms who decide to meet halfway - they freelance or work-from-home during their free time (if a mum can ever have free time!!!), while their baby naps or when their children are at school. This is often a perfect compromise as mum can work her own hours around her kids and family, be available for school-runs and extra-curricular activities and school plays, and still get to do something for herself.

So, here are 5 freelance jobs that are perfect for moms.

  1. Working For Teach For America

Being a teacher is a great job option for a mum, as you don’t need to worry about childcare when at work, as you will also be on holiday when your child is on holiday. Working for Teach For America is a great opportunity for moms who want to kick start their career in teaching.

  1. Become A Virtual Assistant

As a Virtual Assistant or VA, you can do a range of jobs including basic administration work for a company, or things such as checking email and booking reservations for a busy client, or helping a client or business in your field of expertise (be it social media, or marketing, or writing their blogs and brochure content). However, everything you do will be done remotely - hence the term ‘virtual’ assistant.

This is great as depending on your availability, you can take on as many clients as you like or can fit into your working hours.

  1. Data Entry Jobs

Freelance Data Entry jobs are quick, don’t require much training or experience and are great for getting in that extra income every month. Again, it is something you can do from home, in your time.

  1. Blogging/ Freelance Writing

If you’ve got a flair for words and enjoy writing, consider doing it as a job and writing freelance articles for newspapers, magazines, websites or blogs. If you’ve got the time and the inclination to do so, you can also start your own blog on a subject that is close to your heart, or you have sufficient knowledge about. Over time, you can start earning an income from your blog as well, through ads, sponsored content and affiliate links.

  1. Make And Sell Products (Start Your Own Little Business From Home)

Again, if you’ve got a talent for something, you could put it to good use and even earn some money from it. Enjoy baking and your cakes get praise all the time? Why not consider taking orders for birthday cakes? You’ve studied art and can produce great paintings? Then consider selling your paintings (you could host a small exhibition or create a website to showcase your paintings). Getting the gist? Turn your skills and hobbies into a part-time profession - it will earn you money and give you the satisfaction of doing something for yourself too.
