This can also save you money in the long run, as it’s cheaper to maintain your home and prevent damage than to repair it as an emergency.

2. Fences and Gates

Most breakins occur in empty homes. If you’re away for an extended period of time, it can be a good idea to set your lights on a timer to make it look as though you’re home. Another option is to ask a friend or neighbor to pop in and water plants and make the property look occupied.
