Benefits of Using A Recipe App To Make Home Cooking Less Stressful

When you’re a mom juggling your home and career, any help you can get is welcomed freely! Planning and making meals is an important part of family life, but unfortunately, it’s become a chore for many moms. The pressure has sucked the joy out of cooking. It’s too exhausting combing through online recipes for meals that the entire family will enjoy, so you resort to the same old staples you know your kids will eat. Even shopping for the right ingredients no longer feels like the fun scavenger hunt it used to.

Enter Jow. Jow is a personalized meal planning and recipe discovery app that’s available on both iOS and Android. Jow has taken France by storm and is now available in the U.S. This app takes the stress out of shopping and cooking. Jow helps families and couples with busy lives to prepare and enjoy easy, delicious meals together at home. With this, Jow aims to help create more quality time for the people you love. This easy-to-use tool for everyday families helps solve the dreaded, daily question of “what’s for dinner?”

So how does it work?

  • Jow users add their household info inclusive of food preferences, kitchen equipment, age, food allergies and family size. Using some fancy algorithms, the app generates a personalized menu based on your unique household along with the corresponding ingredients/shopping list. This alleviates the pain of trying to figure out how many onions you need or pounds of chicken. Jow also creates your grocery list which you can use at the store and check off items as you go.

    • The best part is Jow meals are well-balanced, easy, and fast. They take 30 minutes or less to prepare and cook, and require only 6 ingredients or less which is perfect for the on-the-go family or professional. Don’t worry, no fancy equipment or chef skills needed.

  • Jow has built the first end-to-end personalized menu and grocery list recommendation platform. It will soon make lives even easier by allowing you to add other household essentials, like toilet paper, wine and shampoo, to your shopping list, and then send it directly to your favorite grocer to organize your groceries for pick-up or delivery. Curbside pickup or delivery from your favorite grocery store will be launching in the next couple months, so stay tuned for more!

  • Jow generates your shopping list based on the meals you choose and scales the required ingredients up or down according to your household size. Jow ensures you’re only buying what you need helping to reduce food waste (and those unnecessary or impulse grocery shop purchases).

    • If you have an ingredient in your fridge or pantry you’ve been dying to use (you know, before it expires), simply search for recipes using that ingredient to find some delicious options that use that item.

  • Jow is incredibly budget-friendly. Most meals cost $4 on average, compared with meal kits which average $9-11 per meal.

My take on Jow:

There are nearly a thousand  recipes to choose from, so it’s incredibly simple and easy to let Jow present a curated list of recipes for you based on what you and your family like.  Jow has you taken care of!

When creating your profile, you add how many adults, children and even pets are in your household to feed! Include your dietary restrictions, dislikes, the kinds of appliances you have in your kitchen and location for the nearest grocery stores in your neighborhood.

While giving Jow a shot, I chose 3 meals: Thai Salad, Quick Chicken Tikka Masala, and Steak with Caramelized Onion Gravy. Jow then created my grocery list for the week, saving me time before heading to the store. I’m personally super excited for Jow to roll out their grocery delivering system soon to make it easier to get my weekly groceries and household items from my local grocer on my doorstep. Check the Jow app for the full list and get notified once it rolls out in your city!

Visit Jow’s website for more information and to download the app and try it yourself.
