The Good Food Festival comes to Chicago on March 16, 2013

The Good Food Festivals held annually in Los Angeles and Chicago is back again for it’s ninth year on March 16, 2013 at the UIC Forum in Chicago. This public event is fun for the entire family and a great way to sample local foods, and meet the growers, artisans and chefs who help create such an abundant food culture for Chicago and beyond. Want to learn how to can your foods? Want to learn tour Chicago’s great urban gardens? Want to meet Chicago chefs up close and watch their cooking demonstrations? Do you want your kids to have a great experience learning about good foods and playing with them? Then, the Good Food Festival is a fun way and inexpensive way to spend the day with your family and friends!
The Good Food Festival & Conference brings together individuals, leaders, and businesses in the locally-driven Good Food Movement to celebrate Good Food and explore how ‘Your Choices Matter’. Learn how choosing Good Food is better for the health of individuals, the environment and the local economy.

On Thursday and Friday, March 14 and 15, is the Good Food Conference held for industry entrepreneurs and insiders. Thursday at the Good Food Conference gives entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase their local food ventures in a dynamic one-on-one environment and to learn about emerging opportunities in the rapidly growing local food movement. Investors, bankers, and local and national government agencies attend to make deals that fund local food businesses as well.
Friday is the Good Food Trade Day is presented by FamilyFarmed.org and the Green Chicago Restaurant Coalition supports farmers, trade buyers, and other stakeholders in growing their business and the good food community. The exhibit floor (10:00am-5:00pm) includes farmers, distributors, artisan food producers, and school food suppliers that are looking for new business and specialize in local food.
Don’t forget about one of the hottest events of the year, Localicious, on Friday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the UIC Forum. This event is a celebration of the farmers who grow our food and the chefs who transform it. You’ll enjoy fabulous food and drinks, hear live bluegrass from Sunnyside Up, and have an opportunity to connect with other good food enthusiasts.
The party pairs family farmers with chef-driven restaurants for a sampling of the freshest ingredients and flavors of the season. You don’t want to miss it! Advance tickets are now available!
