Grandchildren Coming To You With Difficulties? Here's How To Help

If you have a close relationship with your grandchildren then treasure this. There are not many grandkids out there that would come to their grandparents with their problems or difficulties. If they want to talk then try not to act busy, even if you have a load of tasks and chores to be getting on with. Always be available with a friendly listening ear for them. They will come to you again and again if they feel loved, valued, and understood. You might be wondering what you can do to make them feel like themselves again. The answer is that there are lots of tips and tricks out there. It might just be a case of trial and error until you find something that works for them.

Hairdressers

One of the first ideas on the list is a trip to the salon. It may be a constant bad hair day that is getting your grandchild down. If they want to change it up a bit then first check if it is okay to take them with their parents. You don’t want to be going against something they have said or expressed. Also, find out what they want to change about their hair. Always tell them they don’t need to change themselves to look beautiful or handsome. They will take any boost they can get if they are feeling particularly down. If they don’t want to go to the salon, how about the salon coming to them? There are mobile hairdressers out there that you can make an appointment with.

Trip To The Mall

Everyone loves a shopping trip. Children will love the boost a new outfit gives them, especially older children. Younger children aren’t so fussed about going shopping and will generally end up moaning the whole time. However, if you are taking your teenage grandchild out then they may appreciate some new clothes. Feeling down could simply be due to them no longer liking their style or feeling comfortable in their clothes.

Professional Guidance

Something else that might benefit your grandchild, and potentially the whole family is professional help and advice. There are many therapists out there who are always willing to help your grandchildren find their place in the world. If the problem is deeper-rooted then this might be the route to go down. There are even residential places your grandchild can attend to feel better about themselves and learn to cope with different situations. Take a look at the Eva Carlston Academy reviews and find out for yourself how amazing it is.

Sleep

Always, always encourage your grandchildren to sleep. They might live with you or visit you frequently for sleepovers. If they don’t have school the next day then don’t make them get up early, they have earned their lie-in. It is always said that children who sleep the majority of the day are lazy. However, this is now not the case. It has been discovered that children, teenagers especially need more sleep as they are constantly developing. Try to keep them away from tech in the evening so they don’t have difficulty falling asleep.
