How To Bring Bridgerton To Your Living Room

With the new hit series from Netflix, Bridgerton having premiered at the end of 2020 and a new season in works to air this year, Regency-era England came into focus.

If the historical drama has captured your attention, here are a few ways you can experience it first-hand from the comfort of your own home! From refreshing teatime breaks to lavish culinary experiences, treat yourself like royalty!

Teatime

Organize an afternoon tea and relax for a few moments. Make a pot of loose-leaf tea, take out the prettiest china cups you inherited from your grandma and enjoy. Pour the milk first, of course. Add sugar if you want, take out a good book, and relish a few moments of peace and quiet after work.

Teatime is a long-standing British tradition, and it is a central point of social interactions and moments of downtime in English households. Even if it doesn’t come into focus in any particular scene, tea is still very much present in the show.

Pour yourself a cup and take a trip through time and space to Regency England! Have some biscuits, cakes, or finger sandwiches on the side!

Food

Think about what you will have for dinner on your trip to England. How about a traditional, delicious Yorkshire pudding? Have a look at this yummy recipe and give it a try! Nothing else will transport you to a place, like the taste of local traditional food, so eat up!

Don’t let yourself be discouraged by the strange looks, just make it, taste it and let it surprise you. I promise it’s actually very delicious! If you want to be even fancier, you can use Yorkshire pudding as one course in a full meal.  Don’t let the name fool you, this pudding is savory and not a dessert!

Chromatics

There is already a lot of heated debate on chromatics in Bridgerton and how they are not historically accurate. But ignore all that. The series has purposefully taken the liberty of playing with the colors and make them more vibrant than normal.

The super bright colors you see on screen actually hide secret messages. It has been revealed by the show’s costume designer that the chromatics are used to expose the characters’ status and as a shortcut to their inner world.

Take a good look at the colors of the dresses and accessories and get yourself something similar. It can be anything from a couple of throw pillows or cushions, butterfly decorations, or actual clothes.

Pick whatever combination of colors attracts you and have fun with it! You can try to take this exercise to the next level and paint a room or a piece of furniture accordingly. Use the show as inspiration, but let your imagination take you to new places!

Beverages

Will it be wine, lemonade, tea, or brandy? Which one of these traditional, historical drinks strikes your fancy? Pick one, pour yourself a glass, and take a moment to enjoy it. Relax, and picture the great sitting room in your mansion, from where you lord over the house. Put a bit of effort into it and picture yourself in the Bridgerton house and atmosphere. Which character do you most see yourself as?
