How to Get into Cooking when you’re Just Not Motivated

Set Aside a Few Minutes

Believe it or not, it is impossible for you to start cooking if you don’t set aside a few minutes each day. You need to think about what you want to make, and you also need to set aside the best time of day to do it as well.  What works for you, will not work for someone else so make sure that you are completely set on what you want to do and why. This will help you to stay organized and it will also help you to stop ordering takeout. Planning what you are going to cook before you even go to the supermarket will also stop you from picking up whatever usual items you get. In other words, you won’t be stuck ordering the same thing for dinner time and time again.

Buy a Cookbook

You can easily shoot for a standard 1001 recipes-style book, but at the end of the day, there is nothing wrong with you going a little more adventurous. You can buy something that has an Italian theme, or you can learn how to make tons of traditional dishes with surprising results. Either way, if you flick through a cookbook then you will soon find that this helps you to cook different dishes and you may even find that they are written with a lot of detail too. This means even if you’re useless in the kitchen, you are still going to be able to follow the step-by-step instructions. If you don’t have room for books, equipment or pans then now may be the time to have a clear out. It’s very easy for you to rent self storage

Cook a New Dish Every Two Weeks

You can make a new meal once a week, or even once a month if you want. Either way, if you can try and cook a new meal then you will see how gratifying the whole process is. You will also find that you can start a meal from scratch and then finish it in a few hours. Think about it, if you can learn how to make a new dish every month, by the end of the year, you will learn how to make 12 amazing recipes absolutely perfectly. If you don’t have time to cook every week, then aim for every 2 weeks. You’d be surprised at how much confidence you can gain from this.

Make Plans that Revolve around Food

Humans tend to have one thing in common. Everyone loves to eat. That is why people organize so many social events around food. The one issue is that sometimes you may find that you spend a lot of money when you go out and eat too often. One good way of cooking is for you to have a different culinary plan for your home. You could have a tapas contest with your family and friends, or you could challenge yourself to cook a vegetarian dish. Either way, these are all great ways for you to make cooking exciting.
