Soup’s on at Panera Bread
Hats
and gloves are coming out of storage closets, and stores are selling bundles of
firewood. No denying it, autumn is here in full force.
And
as the mercury on the thermometer dips, there’s no better way to warm up your
body and your soul than with hot, delicious soup from Panera Bread.
Two
newcomers are joining Panera’s all-star soup
lineup.
Rustic
Baked Potato Soup is guaranteed to chase away the seasonal chill. Don’t let the
name fool you, this dreamy soup is as much about the cheese as the potatoes. A
smooth Monterey Jack sauce hosts chunks of potatoes, bacon, and chives, and is
topped with melty asiago cheese. Served in Panera’s famous bread bowl, it makes
for a hearty winter meal in itself. Or pair a cup with your favorite soup or
sandwich as a Pick Two.
Also
making its menu debut this season is Hearty Fireside Chili. Made with beef,
kidney beans, fire-roasted tomatoes, and green chile peppers, it’s simmered to
perfection with a blend of chiles and cilantro that brings just the right
amount of heat to thaw the cold-weather blues. Try it as a Pick Two with
Panera’s all new Kickin’ Grilled Cheese as a tasty twist on the classic
combination.
Autumn
Squash Soup is also returning to the Panera menu board. While it’s
vegetarian-friendly, even the most die-hard carnivore can appreciate this
wintertime favorite that incorporates so many of the season's most beloved
harvest bounties. Smooth and creamy, this soup sees butternut squash and
pumpkin simmered in a veggie broth with honey, apple juice, cinnamon, and curry
and finished with sweet cream and roasted pumpkin seeds. Dipping a baguette
into a bowl is pure perfection — or try it as a great Pick Two partner with
Panera’s Fuji Apple Chicken Salad.
Also
new and soup-adjacent? Panera’s decadent Mac & Cheese — shell pasta in a
rich blend of cheeses — is now available with the ultimate meaty upgrade,
applewood smoked bacon.
Classics Are Here To Stay
If
all these new options have your head swimming in soup, never fear, your
tried-and-true faves aren’t going anywhere. Yes, that includes Panera’s
legendary Broccoli Cheddar Soup. Turns out, you're not the only one who adores
that savory blend of broccoli and carrots in a velvety smooth cheese sauce;
Broccoli Cheddar Soup is the top soup choice at Panera in 49 out of 50 states.
The
lone holdout was Minnesota, where Cream of Chicken and Wild Rice Soup reigns
supreme. Made with diced chicken, long-grain and wild rice, celery, onion, and
carrots, it makes a compelling case for the title.
Of
course, there’s always an argument to be made for Panera’s Homestyle Chicken
Noodle, with tender white-meat chicken and curly egg noodles, or the Bistro
French Onion Soup, topped with cheese and sea salt croutons. And there’s a
reason Creamy Tomato Soup, made with vine-ripened pear tomatoes and fresh
cream, is a classic.
Really,
the only bad thing about Panera’s soup lineup is figuring out which
variety you want today!
