If you are stuck for dessert recipe ideas for your next dinner party or even just for family meals, you should give the dessert salad a go. Here are some great recipe ideas to try.

Fruit Salad

The fruit salad is a dessert salad that everybody is familiar with. It’s easy to make, it's delicious, and you can do whatever you like with it. In its simplest form, you just need to chop up whatever fruit you have to hand and mix it all up. But there are some more interesting recipes you can use, which incorporate ingredients like coconut milk and condensed milk to make it a bit more indulgent. Fruit salads are a great option if you want a simple dessert but you don’t want anything too unhealthy. They’re also a good way to trick kids into eating more fruit without complaining about it.

Cheesecake Fluff Salads

Cheesecakes are one of the most popular dessert items there is, but did you know that you can have them in salad form too? If you’re looking for a different dessert that still has flavors you know people will love, this is it. Instead of layering that cheesecake filling up on a biscuit base and chilling it in the fridge, mix it in a bowl with some fruit and some nuts. You could even add some crushed up biscuits so you have all of the layers in there. Cheesecake is always a hit and this great twist on an old favorite is perfect for BBQs and big parties.

Blueberry Mint Salad

If you’re looking for a recipe that blends the line between salad, dessert, and breakfast, this blueberry mint salad is perfect. Simply mix up some blueberries, yogurt, and fresh mint to make a zingy salad that is bursting with flavor. You could eat this as a healthy breakfast or you could top it with some whipped cream to make a delicious dessert. You could even have it as a side with another dessert.

Frog Eye Salad

You might think that there’s a mistake when you read the ingredients for this oddly named salad but there isn’t; it’s a dessert salad that is made with pasta. It gets the name from the acini de pepe pasta, which is a small, round shaped pasta that is stirred through the salad. Mix this with custard, fruit and whipped cream and you have an authentic frog eye salad. People are always cautious about this to start with but once you try it, you’ll fall in love with it.

Salads don’t have to be boring if you don’t want them to. Why not ditch the green leaves and make some dessert salads instead?
