A Fish Pie To Die For

People don’t tend to eat enough fish these days, and so I wanted to release a recipe that everyone could enjoy. With a bit of luck, the info on this page will encourage more of you to cook something fishy in the coming weeks. I realize that lots of folks don’t enjoy the stronger tasting species. Considering that, this fish pie contains only cod and prawns. Of course, you’re free to add other types of fish if you’re feeling ambitious. Indeed, that’s one of the best things about the recipe on this page. You can alter and adjust all the ingredients to create something perfect for your family. Best of all? It’s a healthy meal that won’t take too long to prepare.

Ingredients:
  • Olive oil
  • Three cod fillets
  • A small bag of prawns
  • Four large potatoes
  • A tin of garden peas
  • Two ounces of butter
  • Three teaspoons of warm milk
  • Salt and pepper
  • Cheese
Instructions:
You can also use additional ingredients based on your personal tastes. You can also serve the fish pie alongside anything you fancy. If it encourages you to eat seafood, do whatever you want. Lots of people choose to eat it with fries or baked beans. However, the decision is down to you!

Preparation:

Before you do anything else, you need to peel your potatoes and cut them into thin strips. Add some warm milk and then season them with salt and pepper. Put them aside for a moment, but try to keep them warm as you perform the next few steps.

Now heat the milk in a large pan and add your cod and prawns. Bring the milk up to the boil and leave to simmer for around ten minutes. Make sure you keep moving the fish around to stop it from burning or becoming stuck to the pan. Remove the fish from the pan, but leave the milk in there and keep it warm.

You should now break the fish into chunks and make sure you remove any bones that might be present. You’ll also want to remove any skin before adding the fish back into the white sauce. You can now add your peas and any other vegetables you like too. Throw the potatoes on top, add some cheese, and bake in the oven for around half an hour. Just make sure you check it every ten minutes to ensure it’s not burning.

After half an hour, you should have the perfect fish pie to serve to your family.

Important notes:

If you don’t like large chunks of fish in your dish, you could invest in a fish trimming machine or something similar. They’re often used by restaurants and other food establishments. However, nothing is stopping you from using them at home. You might also think about adding more seasoning. Choose whichever herbs and spices you enjoy most. The possibilities are endless and only limited by your imagination.

I hope you guys enjoy this fish pie recipe, and that you’ll try cooking it for your family this week. As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, we don’t consume enough fish these days. So, now is the time to make a change. For a full list of benefits, just search online.

Enjoy!
