Fresh Plum Pastry
Liven up your hump-day with a nice treat for you and your family. This fruit pastry recipe is so simple using store bought puff pastry and fresh fruit.
Wow your dinner guests with this homemade dessert that could easily compete with the store-bought kinds, and will make you look like a master baker!
This recipe would also be great using peaches, nectarines, apples, pineapples and any other hearty or stoned fruit. The key is to use what’s in season, and you won’t miss a beat!
- Parchment paper
- 5-6 firm plums
- 1 sheet of store-bought puff pastry
- 2 TBL of unsalted butter – cut into small cubes
- 2 TBL of granulated sugar
Heat the oven to 400 degrees.
Take a cookie sheet and line it with parchment paper to prevent the dough from sticking.
Take the puff pasty dough, place it on top of the cookie sheet and carefully stretching it out with the palm of your hands. Let it rest on the cookie sheet while you slice the plums.
Take the plums, slice them in halves, then slice them into half-moons. Carefully, arrange the plums on the pastry dough in any design you want. Make sure that they are fanned on top of each other.
Take 2 TBL of sugar and sprinkle it evenly on top of the plums, coating all the fruit. Take the cubed unsalted butter and place it all over, on top of the plums. It will melt in the oven and give the fruit a nice sheen and also help to soften the fruit.
Serve by itself or with fresh whipped cream and powdered sugar or a la mode with vanilla bean ice cream
