Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and if you’re looking for the perfect treat to surprise your sweetie with, why not get them baked with brownies made from scratch? They say the best gifts are made, and the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach, so double up your chances of winning your love over with a batch of DIY brownies. Plus, what better way to get your daily CBD intake than with some CBD brownies! Without further ado, here are three of our favorite homemade brownie recipes for you to try this V-day.
Heart-Shaped Brownies with Raspberry Buttercream
The addition of fresh raspberries to the rich buttercream frosting really takes these brownies to the next level. But, if you can’t get your hands on raspberries, feel free to add some red food coloring to regular buttercream icing to achieve the visual effect.
Here’s what you’ll need to make these fudgy, decadent brownies:
½ cup unsalted butter, diced
3 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, chopped
1 ½ cups sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
1 ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
¾ cup all-purpose flour
Powdered sugar, to sprinkle on the finished brownie hearts
And here’s what you’ll need for the fresh raspberry buttercream:
12 oz. raspberries (fresh or frozen works!)
½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
½ teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
3 ½ cups powdered sugar
Pinch of kosher salt
Once you’ve gathered your ingredients, head on over to A Farmgirl’s Dabbles for the full instructions.
Valentine’s Brownies with Pink and Red M&Ms
These brownies look super festive and can be made in about as much time as it would take to make using a box mix -- except they taste 100x better than a box mix. Aside from the M&Ms, you probably have most of the ingredients in your pantry, too. Talk about a true triple threat!
Here’s what you’ll need to make these delicious brownies:
½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
½ cup cocoa powder, sifted
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup M&Ms
10ml CBD oil
These brownies freeze well for up to three months, and you can save this recipe for other holidays-- just mix and match the M&M colors to match whichever holiday you’re celebrating. For the full directions, head over to Live Well Bake Often.
Marbled Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies
If you really want to go all out this Valentine’s Day, this is the recipe to try -- especially if your Valentine is a fan of cheesecake. If you use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to shape these brownies, you will have some scraps leftover. If you don’t gobble them all up, may we suggest this Red Velvet Cheesecake Milkshake?
Here’s what you’ll need for these bad boys:
3 ¼ cups flour
2 ¼ cups granulated sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking powder
3 large eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
5 tablespoons milk, divided
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon red food coloring
2 teaspoons white vinegar
2 8oz packages cream cheese, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
This recipe is a bit complex, so proceed at your own risk! Trust us, though; they’re so beautiful and totally worth the effort. Check ‘em out for yourself (and find the directions) over at The Novice Chef.
Spice it up with CBD Oil!
Did you know that any of the above recipes can be turned into a CBD edible by adding in CBD oil? So, get your favorite CBD tincture and add around 10ml to your recipe.
And, as always, we ask that you practice responsible consumption of cannabis & CBD, which includes letting your recipient know the truth about what they’re about to consume.
