The 4 Essentials To Throwing A Themed Party

Throwing a party is a lot of work and it can be hard to come up with ideas that will make your party something to remember. A great way to host a party that is fun and memorable is to make it themed. It makes the planning and organizing much easier and the guests will all love it.

When you struggle with ideas for a party, a theme will take all of the guesswork away. The ideas come on their own when you have a central theme. No matter what theme you decide on, there is a way to make it all come together. In this article, we will go over several things you need to do to be able to make it all come together.

1 - Make themed foods

The first thing to plan is how to make the food fit the theme of the party. When you pick the idea of what you want the party to be then there are ways to make the food match it. For instance, if you are doing a theme from a particular movie, then there may have been food that they ate in it which you can then replicate.

If it’s a kid's birthday party then this will be a lot of fun for them. Take “The Princess and the Frog”, for example. If this is their favorite movie and you are building the theme around that then you can make a lot of cajun food that they ate in it.

You could even use themed foods that are not actually from the movie but have the theme already. An example would be using Harry Potter jelly beans, or Minion-inspired cakes.

It’s all up to your imagination as to how to work the theme into the food. Once you nail the idea then you will create quite an impression on your guests that they will remember for a while.

2 - Start with the invitations

A themed party needs to be understood as such by the guests so they know what to expect. It is also a way for them to get excited if they are fans of a particular theme. You can gin up interest and ensure that you get a lot of turnout by making the invitations whimsical with lots of use of the theme of the party. Use language that is relevant to the theme and also lots of imagery.

It’s also important if you expect the partygoers to participate actively in the theme. Make sure to mention if you need them to dress in a certain way to fit the theme. If there are accessories related to it then you should tell them what they need to bring and even offer ideas on where they can get the items.

3 - Make it interactive

There may be some activities related to the theme that you can use for some interactive fun for the guests. For instance, if it’s a Star Wars theme then you could have a lightsaber fight competition. Or, you could try to actually play Quidditch from the Harry Potter movies.

These things make the party much more fun than just having a few decorations up that play to the theme of the party. There could even be some professional help brought in to do some reenactments from a movie or play into some other theme. A Wild West theme is loaded with opportunities to have some actors come and make it a lot more fun than just having decorations.

Even just asking the guests to dress up for the theme makes it more interactive. It also gives the opportunity to do a pageant and award people the three best outfits to make sure that people really get into it and put effort into their costumes.

4 - Hire a photographer

Having a good set of photos to remember a party is always a great idea. Looking back to the days of being carefree is always fun. When you do a themed party it is even better because you’ll get a lot of laughs from some of the crazy things people were doing during that party.

Hiring a professional photographer will help you focus on the party and taking care of guests. It is also good because they understand when a good picture presents itself and how to take an ideal one. It will cost a bit of money, but you can take comfort in the fact that years from now you will be glad you had the photographer.
